Summer’s not yet here, and while in some places in the world people are experiencing their coldest winter ever, the weather here in Bukidnon has been very hot and dry lately. In the pretty laid back town of Quezon, for example, people are looking for places to cool off during weekends or after a day’s work. If you happen to be in Quezon or traveling the Sayre Highway from the City of Cagayan de Oro to Davao City down south, you need not look any further for a glass of ice-cold red tea, a tall cup of caramel frappe or a cup of freshly ground, freshly brewed coffee. Coffee Highway Bistro could be the perfect place for you.
This family-run coffee shop is an ideal place for family and friends to get together and enjoy good food and good coffee. They have the latest, state-of-the-art coffee making machines and use only the freshest superior quality Arabica and Robusta coffee beans such as the ones found in the highlands of Bukidnon. Great coffee, excellent food and a cool yet cozy ambiance create a perfect atmosphere for good conversations.
When we first visited in December 2015, the only had a few items on their menu but I immediately fell for their latte. My husband and ten-year-old son, both crazy over anything strawberry, ordered strawberry frappe and it has become their all-time favorite.
Other thirst quenchers to try are their Strawberry Float, Raspberry Iced Tea and Moringa Citrus, the latest addition to their line of drinks.
If you are looking for something filling, you ought to have a plate of their Triple Decker Sandwich or the Monte Cristo, a sandwich that uses two kinds of cheeses, one of which is your favorite mozzarella. During my last visit, which was about two nights ago, I had a Bean-Beef Burrito, my husband had Angus Beef sandwich and one of our boys, Luis a.k.a. Mr. Egg, ordered Egg Bacon Toast — eggs nestled in a basket of bacon and served with toast. If that doesn’t sound comforting, I don’t know what does.
The locals I know who are fans of Coffee Highway all agree on the excellence of their food and service. Personally, I think the best part is that the family who runs the place are very same persons who prepare and serve the food, and make sure that the guests are having only the best dining experience. That gives Coffee Highway a unique brand no other food place in Quezon is known for.
So the next time you think about grabbing something to eat or drink, or some place to take your family and friends to, go to Coffee Highway.
